According to Hindu scriptures Holika Dahan, which is also known as Holika Deepak or Chhoti Holi, should be done during Pradosh Kaal (which starts after sunset) while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing.

Why is Holika Dahan celebrated ?

Holika Dahan marks the the victory of good over evil. According to history, Hiranyakashyap - a demon king had become very powerful and no one could overpower him. His son Prahlad was an ardent follower of Lord Vishnu and Hiranyakashyap had stopped him from worshipping the god. He had attempted to kill his son Prahlada by making him sit on a burning pyre with his aunt Holika, who had a boon that prevented her from being harmed. Prahlada chanted Lord Vishnu's name and Holika was burnt but no harm came to him.

Why Bells Are There In Temples?

Have you ever wondered "why bells are there in temples"? It is an age old tradition to ring the bell of the temple upon entering its premises. Bell ringing is an ancient Vedic ritual and one can see multiple bells hanging over the domes in many Indian shrines. It is said that the devotees knock God’s entrance to ask permission upon entering his holy sanctum. Making temple bells is a whole science . " The bell is made up of a mixture of five metals – lead, copper, zinc, iron, and tin" to which it is measured based on ratio and specification. Each of these bells is made to produce such a distinct sound that it can create a harmony between your left and right brains. The moment you ring that bell, it produces sharp but lasting sound vibration which lasts for minimum of seven seconds in echo mode — long enough to touch your seven healing centers (or chakras) in your body. The moment bell sound happens your brain is emptied of all thoughts . Invariably, you will enter ...

Mahabharata is epic and always continues to fascinate people, even for those who know the least. It is a great treasure of facts and knowledge and it is impossible for anyone to know everything. Many of the facts omitted or even unknown to people. Mahabharata shows us the application of philosophy when it comes to deciding between right and wrong in cases where the answer is not simple. Mahabharata’s four main characters are Arjuna, Karna, Dronacharya, and Bhishma . From Karna, Drona, Bhisma, and Arjuna, it is Arjuna who stands out from the four as the hero. Karna, Drona, and Bhishma are remembered as tragic heroes. They all experienced sad deaths on the battlefield. So why does Lord Krishna choose Arjuna instead of Karna? Karna was a great warrior, in many ways greater than Arjuna. They may have been equal as archers, but physically, Karna was by far the stronger of the two. And even in sticking to one’s principles,  But in Karna’s life, there was one fatal flaw. He made his fri...
